Why do I need insurance?
Your vendor agreement with the contracting client requires you to have insurance as an independent contractor. This protects you and the client that’s contracting you.
What is Workers' Compensation?
This coverage responds to work related injuries and provides you with benefits. It is required of independent contractors. Regardless of where you go to procure coverage, you’ll need it to do work for the contracting client.
How do I get other required coverage?
Your quote from 1099Policy.com will be based on the insurance required of you. In other words, if the contracting client requires both general liability and workers comp, then your quote will include the cost of coverage for both.
Do I have to buy long-term policies for a short term gig?
No. The coverage is specifically designed to start and end with each assignment.
What does coverage typically cost?
The cost varies by state and job description. It can range from 0.5% to 5% of the contractor fee, excl. equipment rentals. You only pay for what you need, when you need it - per gig. This makes the coverage affordable. Get a quote and see.
How do I pay for my insurance?
If you're using our platform, you pay for coverage via your credit card which we collect through your online application. Know that you will only pay for what you need based on your assignment as reported to us.
When do I pay for my insurance?
The first assignment is paid for when you opt-in. Subsequent assignments are charged to your card at the time you are paid and reported to 1099Policy.
What type of coverage do you offer on your platform
We offer workers compensation, general liability, and professional liability for certain professions. If you're interested in other types of coverage, feel free to reach out to us at contact@1099policy.com.
