Bulk upload contractors
There are two methods for uploading freelancers to 1099Policy:
Bulk upload a .csv file directly to 1099Policy
Integrate 1099Policy with a third party platform (e.g. Worksuite, CreatorIQ)
This article outlines bulk uploading contractor data using a .csv file. For information about third party integrations please see the corresponding Help Center article (linked above).
Instructions: bulk upload contractor data to 1099Policy
Log into your 1099Policy account;
Select 'Contractors' from the left menu bar;
Click the 'Bulk Import Contractors' button, located at the top right of the Contractors list;
Open the bulk import template and make a copy to edit. Note that Row 1 of the spreadsheet is prepopulated with sample data;
Once all required information is entered, download the file as a .csv (File > Download > Comma Separated Values);
Return to your 1099Policy dashboard, which should still be open to the 'Bulk Import Contractors' page;
Click the 'Browse and Upload' button and select the file you've just edited for upload

Troubleshooting
As noted, the Google Sheet includes fairly comprehensive data validation to ensure field values you enter don’t result in an error when you upload. That said, we’ve seen file uploads fail for various reasons, including:
Missing fields – if the Google Sheet row doesn’t turn green, you’re missing a required field. Check that you’ve added all of the required fields before exporting the file as a CSV and uploading to 1099Policy.
Invalid fields – the data validation is built directly into Google Sheets. That said, if you download the Google sheet and modify it in a different tool that doesn’t check that all of the fields (email, date, etc) are valid, then you’re more likely to run into errors when you upload the file.
Duplicate emails – 1099Policy platform requires that every contractor have a unique email. If the email is a duplicate of one already on the platform, you’ll see an error when you upload.
Merging rows – check that each row and cell are distinct and that you haven’t merged multiple rows into one row.
