They upload their certificate. We check limits, dates, and named parties against the assignment. Pass and they're cleared; fail and you know why.
See automated COI review →Both platforms check certificates of insurance. The difference is what happens when a contractor doesn't have one: myCOI flags the gap and the chase begins. 1099Policy gets eligible contractors covered for the assignment, with the certificate issued before work starts.
If everyone you hire already carries insurance and the pain is paperwork volume, myCOI is a good tool with fifteen years behind it. It stops helping the moment a contractor has no insurance: the tracker can flag that, but it can't fix it. Hire independent contractors in volume and that's not an edge case, because many don't carry a policy between jobs. That's what 1099Policy is for.
myCOI details on this page are from what the company publishes, August 2026.

See automated COI review →Eligible contractors pick up coverage for the assignment while they onboard, in their own name, with the certificate issued before day one.
See how it fits together →About the coverage. Written per assignment in the contractor's own name and backed by a licensed carrier. Available to eligible contractors, subject to underwriting, the type of work, and the state. Workers' comp covers 46 states; North Dakota, Ohio, Washington, and Wyoming run their own state funds. Construction trades are not covered. Insurance does not change how a worker is classified.
A staffing platform onboards 60 US contractors for a retail event. The client requires workers' comp and $1M general liability from every one. The certificates come in: 38 covered, 22 with nothing.
With a tracker, the 22 are red rows on a dashboard and the start date slips while they shop for annual policies they don't want. With 1099Policy, the 38 certificates are checked automatically, the eligible 22 pick up assignment coverage while onboarding, and the event starts on schedule.
