What is 1099Policy?

1099Policy offers on demand, per assignment Workers’ Compensation policies to independent contractors, including healthcare professionals.

This coverage protects you, a healthcare professional, by allowing you to get the coverage  you need for each work assignment at low cost.

How does this work?

1099Policy integrates seamlessly with Clipboard Health’s marketplace. When signing up for shifts at a healthcare facility,  you can opt into workers’ compensation coverage via 1099Policy. The coverage then is active for that shift.

Then, for future shifts, you do not need to complete the opt-in form, unless you work in another state.

What is Workers’ Compensation?


Workers' Compensation coverage responds to work related injuries and provides the policyholder with benefits. 

What will this cost?


Insurance premium rates are a very small percentage of the payment you make per shift. Rates vary by state and job description. When booking a shift, you will be presented with the cost of coverage.

Is this required?

Workers’ Compensation is required in order to accept an assignment with your healthcare facility. Your healthcare facility prioritizes your safety and works with 1099Policy to help protect everyone who works there.

What happens in the event that I need to file a claim?

While we hope for a safe experience, accidents happen! Should you need to file a claim, 1099Policy’s team will work with you to notify the insurance carrier’s claims department expeditiously. 

To get started, please email claims@1099policy.com and include the following information:

• Name of policyholder

• Date of incident

• State in which the incident occurred

• Description of incident

Please note that claims are paid directly by the insurance company. The policyholder will be contacted by the insurance company’s claim representative to determine next steps.
